B. Scott O'Malley

B. SCOTT O'MALLEY has written and directed three feature films which have been sold and/or distributed in the US and foreign territories, including the post-apocalyptic sci-fi comedy, Bleak Future, now available on Netflix and in video stores around the world. His off-beat sense of humor and unique satirical vision have garnered O'Malley and his films a legion of die-hard underground film fans worldwide.

Audie & The Wolf marks O'Malley's latest feature film directing effort. A romantic horror-comedy, Audie & The Wolf is the legend of the werewolf, told in reverse. What if a wolf turned into a man? Featuring great comic performances, hilariously bloody murder, rollicking romance, and an all-original 70'-style guitar-driven rock score a la The Rocky Horror Picture Show, in the spirit of An American Werewolf in London, and Shaun of the Dead. The film just became available for distribution and has already sold theatrically to Russia, and on VOD/Pay TV and DVD to Germany and Russia, and has played dozens of medium-to-high-profile film festivals worldwide.

After graduating from California State University Fullerton with a Bachelor's Degree in Communications-Radio-Television-Film, O'Malley completed his first significant feature film, Bleak Future, shot entirely on Super 8 sound filmstock, a filmstock that Kodak ceased all production of while the film was still in production.

Soon after, O'Malley went to work for legendary B-film maverick Roger Corman, where he honed the craft of independent filmmaking with limited resources. Ironically, O'Malley was fired by Corman when he was caught shooting his second feature film on the Corman studio lot on a weekend, Corman style. Minimum Wage was a romantic comedy about a Hollywood agent who sells his soul to the devil, and ends up having to work fast food. Featuring famed little person Michael J. Anderson of Twin Peaks and HBO's Carnivàle,  the film garnered praise from Film Threat Magazine and was distributed by CinemaNow.

O'Malley co-wrote and produced the feature film Boppin' At The Glue Factory, aka JUNKIE NURSE with Director/Writer Jeff Orgill, a dark comedy about a junkie who runs the night shift at a retirement home. The screenplay was a two time semi-finalist for the prestigious Sundance Screenwriting Lab and the film was selected to be one of ten features to participate in the IFP Narrative Rough Cut Lab in New York.

O'Malley's rock band Igor Spectre has played with such acts as The Black Keys, 45 Grave, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, and Gene Loves Jezebel. He lives with his cats Annie, Carpet, and Samuel Butterstuff in the verdant hills of Los Feliz, California.

WHAT THE CRITICS ARE SAYING

Milly (AMBER PHILLIPS) from Minimum Wage

"O'Malley's simple but highly comical "Minimum Wage" won't win any awards for its extremely basic photography; nor does it need to as it instead relies on old-fashioned adroit storytelling, great dialogue, interesting characters, and winning performances -- remember those? -- to entertain its audience."- Film Threat

Horusa (DARLENE CUNNINGHAM) from Bleak Future "B. Scott O'Malley's Bleak Future is ridiculously fun to watch, and all the actors are so ludicrously over the top that you can’t help but laugh even when they’re just walking around in the desert. The story is extremely well-written, meshing elements of MAD MAX, Monty Python and SILENCE OF THE LAMBS into a surprisingly coherent narrative."- Fangoria Magazine
King Malice (BONES) from BLEAK FUTURE "This movie is awesome. ...It would make both Sam Raimi and Peter Jackson very, very happy."
- Ain't It Cool News
Frank Kowal performs voiceover for Slangman in Bleak Future "Wonderfully engaging, thoroughly hilarious...Bleak Future proves that incredibly inventive material can come in the most minor of moviemaking packages. Everyone thinks that all it takes to make a film is a camera, a crew, and a cast. But O'Malley's madcap masterwork argues that talent trumps all potential technical expertise. "- DVD Talk
Dr. Obvious (ROB CUNNINGHAM) from Bleak Future

"The energy and enthusiasm of Peter Jackson's Bad Taste."- Cold Fusion

Bleak Future Femme, Slangman, and Atlatl "A brilliant piece of fantasy storytelling, a hilarious comedy, a penetrating satire on the human condition." - Film Journalist MJ Simpson

THE NEXT PROJECT

Francis Hamper
B. Scott O'Malley's next feature in the works is the off-kilter and demented FRANCIS HAMPER, which is currently in development. Other O'Malley scripts in development: STANDARD FARE, RONALD REAGAN ROCKSTAR, and DAN COYOTE. O'Malley is also finishing up his first novel, AN H-BOMB OF HIGH ROAD, the story of a modern private eye, who happens to be mildly retarded.
